It actually works! This is one of the only adapters I've found that will work with a MAX3380E on the other end, which requires full RS232 signaling.

Easy to install

Compared to other serial to USB adapters out there, this one is pretty easy to install. Plugged it into a Windows 7 PC and it came right up without installing drivers. Overall very happy.

An extra serial port

This device installed with no trouble in a windows 7 32 bit system, giving it an additional serial port that has worked with several small serial port devices and some experimental circuits

Worked perfectly

Very simple to use, just plug it in and the drivers load and you are ready to go. I had an electronic circuit that required a serial port and I had seen some adverse comments about serial to USB converters not working in this application. This unit worked perfectly without any issues.

Works great to connect URC MX-850 Remote to Windows 10 USB

I'm very happy with this purchase. I have an Aeros (URC) MX-850 Remote with a proprietary cable which requires a legacy DB9 serial connection to a PC to program it. I'm running Windows 10 on a Dell 2-in-1 laptop/tablet with only USB connectivity. This adapter worked perfectly out of the box with no driver install required. All I had to do was check Windows Device Manager for the COM Port number it used and adjust the setting accordingly in the MX Editor software. I used to have to jump through hoops with a special boot process and DOS commands to get an old generic usb/serial adapter to be seen by Windows 7. This adapter made it all so easy.

Easy to configure for various devices

This product is great for retrofitting usb based computers with old rs232 serial capability for old peripherals that still work.

Worked great

The adapter works great. I tried it on an HP laptop running Windows 10, it found drivers right away. I was able to use the update feature in the Device manager and it found updated drivers. I also tried it on a Dell desktop running Windows 7 and it worked great there as well.

I work in an I.T. department. I bought these because most PC's don't have serial ports anymore. it comes with a little driver disc and once you install it the cable works. We haven't really had any major issues with these. I think I bought 5 or so.

Great adapter, works great on my Macbook Pro!

This Prolific chipset serial adapter works great! It was easy to bring up on my Macbook Pro, with the drivers easily found and easy to install. I am using MacOs Mojave BTW.

Windows 10 didn't need drivers to config, Very simple

This usb to serial connection cable was a plug and play on my windows 10 laptop. I'll be using this with a Cisco console cable and putty to configure and troubleshoot devices at work. Very simple to use. Price and performance make this a simple choice. Shipping was very fast. Would recommend.

Very happy with this cable

I'm a network engineer and 3 things I always need when working in the field are a laptop, patch cable and serial cable. I thought I was doing something wrong while out troubleshooting an issue and realized my current serial cable stopped working. I needed a new one fast. Ordered this one because it was inexpensive and I could get it soon. I got it in a timely manner and it hasn't let me down as of yet. Definitely, a happy engineer!!!

No Port? No Problem!

Handy item for when you need a serial port (rs232) on a newer computer or simply an additional port on a machine that already has one.. Installs quickly and starts working right away.

Great purchase

Have some old electronic devices that plug into the PC for diagnostics through a serial port so unless you have a computer that is over 12 years old, you probably don't have the port. This item works great and it's a good price as well. Runs on Prolific chipset. Sturdy cable.
